Strategic planning and prioritisation

Many businesses recognise that a clear short, medium and long-term strategy is fundamental to business growth. Once the business strategy is in place a technology strategy creates an R&D plan for your company to follow. We use workshops as a tool in developing a technology strategy, to ensure that all the future options are captured and participants have a strong buy in to the final decisions.

Business development

Project design & management
R&D has a higher risk profile than many business activities. CATALYST® lowers the risk of new technical developments by working with companies to design achievable R&D projects. CATALYST® has experience in managing diverse teams to achieve targets on time and to budget. We are experienced in the management of R&D projects to meet commercial objectives.

Feasibility studies, business case development, and commercialisation plans
A feasibility study describes the concept, estimates the market, and identifies revenue streams. A feasibility study may stand-alone or be the precursor to the establishment of a business case. A rigorous business case is usually the most effective way to objectively assess whether the investment and risk associated with a project product or service is justified by the potential rewards.

Life cycle assessment and greenhouse gas inventories

Life Cycle Assessment
A life cycle assessment (LCA) calculates the greenhouse gas (GHG) impacts of a product or service over its whole life cycle, from acquiring the raw material(s) through to its production, packaging, use and disposal. Fore more information on LCA, click here. For an LCA example click here.

Greenhouse gas inventory
A GHG inventory will measure your businesses GHG emissions by identification and annual tracking of emissions from key sources. On-going support and guidance as required in interpreting your GHG information can also be provided.

Each year we undertake our own inventory and report it to ISO-14064 standard. To download our most recent report, click here (PDF; 285KB).

ACE - The Annual Carbon Emissions calculator is available as a free download.

Incorporating sustainability

Climate change impacts
Climate change projections indicate particular and significant impacts on biological production systems and supply chains. We work with clients to understand the risks to their business from climate change. We can also provide a presentation or workshop to outline the results and get staff and management input.

Mitigation and adaptation
We work with clients to identify energy efficiencies for their businesses, and how emissions can be reduced or offset.
