Introducing Justin Ford-Robertson

We are pleased to announce that Justin Ford-Robertson has joined the Catalyst team. Justin is based in Rotorua and has recently worked with us on forestry projects. Justin has specialist expertise in forestry, energy, climate change and related issues and we have prepared the article above as an overview of the issues relating to carbon credits, the Kyoto protocol and how this may affect businesses.

Justin has been involved in research and development for over 15 years both in New Zealand and overseas. He has designed and managed research programmes and undertaken consultancy work on environmental aspects of land use and forestry, particularly related to climate change mitigation and bioenergy.

Justin has been active in international research and policy setting through ongoing involvement with organizations such as the International Energy Agency and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and has provided consultancy services to local, national and international organizations.

Justin brings the following capabilities to the business:

• Experience in design of research strategies and projects
• Specialist knowledge of climate change policies and implications
• Extensive international network of contacts in forestry, bioenergy and climate change
• Experience of multi-stakeholder participatory processes

Justin went to Aberdeen, Scotland, where he completed his BSc (Hons) Forestry and MPhil (Bioenergy) before returning to NZ in 1993. He is a member of the NZ Institute of Forestry and the NZ Farm Forestry Association.
